So me and the crew have got tickets for the midnight premier and we have decided to dress up.
As i have decided to go as Luna but have very little funds at the moment I have made these glasses out of card to put over my own glasses. Aswell as drew some radishes to stick on my earings (debating weaher to die my hair blonde.i have been thinking about it anyway but I am too much of a chicken)
So i will just wear them a shirt, grey cardigan and a black skirt.
Now thats how you do a costume on a student budget ;)

Dobby ears
So halloween (as well as pub crawls) approach this month!
With a Harry Potter theme going and very little time and money decided to whip together this Dobby outfit.
(sorry the pictures are not aesthetically pleasing/ Pinterest like the lighting is not magnificent in this flat nor do I currently posses the equipment)
You will need:
With a Harry Potter theme going and very little time and money decided to whip together this Dobby outfit.
(sorry the pictures are not aesthetically pleasing/ Pinterest like the lighting is not magnificent in this flat nor do I currently posses the equipment)

- 1 A4 card (any colour it is for a template)

- glue gun
- scissors
- pencil
- pen
- sellotape
1. On the plain card copy the template (will be linked at somepoint), draw your practice Dobby ear, and cut it out.
2. Try folding it and sticking it together to see if it makes desired shape
3. draw round the template onto both of the coloured pieces of card
4.cut along lines and fold in. Stick with sellotape / glue gun
7. Using the glue gun secure the side flaps of the ear onto the headband by folding it over 2 times.
8. Draw the inner ear design on with a pen

how to make a chest
here's a simple way of making a chest.
1.Measure out the plain cardboard sheet so it is the same in length as the shoebox or cardboard box you are using. Luckily mine already had indentations in it so it was easy to fold into a nice top shape i wanted. If not lightly run a pair of scissors on the line you want to crease to make it easier. Also leave little flaps where you will be able to join the two together and hold together the top.
2. once you have the shape of the top. measure out the sides and cut appropriate sized and shaped cardboard forms. Gluing the sides on was the trickiest part as the flaps kept coming apart when drying. Apply a heavy wait onto it.
3. Once its dry see if it still fits onto the box if not do the final adjustments now before you paint. The top of mine was to big so i had to trim it a bit. Also decide if you whant the top and the box to join together. If yes glue to small flaps on one side to the inside of the box. If you just want to beable to lift of the top then you can cut the flaps of. And TADAM! you're ready to decorate!

i was rushing and didn't have enough time to wait for the glue to dry so i unfortunately had to use masking tape to hold it together |

How to make wands
This is a simple way to make wands. I heard this from a friend who saw it somewhere so it isn't my idea
1. Heat up your glue gun, and cover the parts of your chopstick that you wish to use as the handle, you can use all sorts of patterns where you wish the wood to come out a bit, if you wish when its cooled a bit you can use your hands to shape it. Also you can add beads of different sizes to add a bit of character to the wand.
2. once the glues set you can start to paint them. then leave them to dry. I added another layer so the glue was completely covered.
3. And then you're basically done! now you can do some extra tinkering. for example i added the gold streak at the end when trying to make Hermione's wand.

Harry potter time turner
So for my cousins 10th birthday I'm making a trunk full of all things Harry Potter-y this is just one of the objects that i might put in it (though I do feel greedy and might just keep this one) I'll be uploading the rest of the stuff as well, once I've made them
I got the Idea from here although i didn't follow instructions just saw the picture and figured it out (as you know don't like following instructions) so it does look different but i like mine :)

How to make cool earrings (using shrinking paper)
What you will need:
- shrinking paper ( they come in all sorts of colours)
- fine sand paper
- pens (the ones that don't come off)
- pencils
- a design
- earrings- you can buy different types in hobby shops)
- hole punch
- scissors
step 1 the design |
the designs traced over |
- First print out or draw the design you would like on your earrings
- If you want to draw on it with pencil, sand paper that bit down. If you want to draw the design on the see threw type of paper, by sanding it down it won't be see threw anymore.(I didn't sand mine down so i could only use pens)
- the design should be double the size that you want it to be.
- leave space when drawing the design on for the hole at the top.
- If using the see-threw shrinking paper simply place it over the pattern and copy it.
- Punch the hole and cut out your design leave a small rim to it.
- place them into the oven on a sheet of baking paper on a tray.
- don't pre-heat the oven put them in and then turn the oven on to about 125 degrees celsius.
- (make a test one) stay by them and watch them , they should shrink in around 5 minutes , if you think that they've reached the size you prefer take them out
- there will be the problem of curling so quickly when you take them out flatten them.
- then leave them to cool, then simply place them on the earrings

Review: Harry potter 7 part 2 (warning mini spoilers)
Today i whent to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2, with Dina. I had been exited all day since im a huge Harry Potter book and film fan and i've been waiting to see this finally since the the last book came out so i had high expectations. And Luckily i wasnt dissapointed the film was absoloutly AWSOME. ok they changed some bits and cut some bits out but i know that the film cant be exactly like the book or we'd get bored. But the effects where great as well mostly if you watch it in 3D the Gringots cart ride feels really real. The audience was great as well as everyone seemed to be in a very exited mood. (today was the first day they showed it here)and everyone seemed to become really tense when it looked as it was coming to an end mostly those of us who where waiting if they made the 19years later bit and when it came up a huge sigh of relief passed through the audience. I could also here funny comments in the background during the film like when they said
"your eyes are exactly like your mothers eyes" - could they stop saying that we knoooow his eyes are like his mothers eyes you always say it. and when voldemort died
- eeeeeeew his skins peeling off.
the most awkward part : when voldemort hugged Draco. it was a ??????? moment
the funniest part usually included Ron:
(in the chamber of secrets)
Ron: sssssskshhjvbsssss (parseltongue) (door opens)
Hermione: ?
Ron: Harry talks in his sleep you know haven't you noticed ?
also a bit i liked is when professor McGonnagle preforms a complex transfiguration charm on the school statues to make them come alive and says "i always wanted to to do that charm " smiling.
I think the part with Snapes memory was also really well done.
Though im really sad its all ended i hope i'll see some of the actors like Rupert Grint and Emma Watson and also others in different films as well.
So i recommend it to everybody. Its an absolute MUST SEE.
Rating out of 10 : 10 :D
